Thomas, Consultant

Many consulting houses have a reputation for being poor workplaces, where "soft values" are given a low priority.

Career
My education includes an MS in Computer Science. I wanted to test my abilities as a consultant, and have now been employed for a year and a half, since July of 2006. Platon is known as the leading consulting house in business-oriented IT/Information Management, and at the same time has a reputation for being a good workplace. Many consulting houses have a reputation for being poor workplaces, where "soft values" are given a low priority. In my network, Platon has had a reputation as being a workplace where, for example, the balance between the working life and personal life is given a high priority and where there is room for more than just the daily tasks.

Daily working life
The role of a consultant suits me really well in that I thrive under the changes that go with being a consultant. As a consultant, you participate in a number of exciting projects, where you solely participate in the most interesting phases of the project and never have to experience it becoming boring and monotonous. You get to work with a very large number of people, and thereby develop a good ability to adjust quickly to new situations, to make a working relationship function and to steer a project safely into port. You start fresh every time you start a new project, and that is refreshing.

Development
Since people at Platon come into contact with a large number of different projects, are members of many different teams and are challenged in nearly all conceivable ways, you build up a large number of competencies as a result. This provides an extra advantage careerwise compared to other positions, where people are not continually challenged to the same degree as one is in consulting. Since Platon covers such a broad spectrum of technical, consulting and management competencies, the possibility of developing a career in precisely the direction one would like to go is quite good at Platon.

The level of professional ambition among Platon's consultants is very high. This is ensured by their deep commitment to the tangible work they are doing, as well as their desire to strengthen their professional relationships via knowledge-sharing. Nobody is afraid of asking "dumb questions" and nobody is too busy to help you if you need it. In this way, everyone contributes to the common professional environment, making it a place where nobody is afraid to jump into very demanding tasks since a top-competent lifeline is never more than a telephone call away.

Colleagues
The best thing about being a consultant at Platon, beyond the good collegial atmosphere, is that you have the opportunity to participate in a large number of different and challenging projects. You meet all kinds of new people with different competencies, and thus build up an enormous social and professional network. Our clients see Platon as a respected working partner, and with your colleagues’ professional competencies and helpfulness backing you up, you quickly get the feeling that you are able to solve basically all the challenges that can be thrown at you.
